FAB HOSTESS - HOST DINNER AT HOME
Hosting is one of my favorite things!
Having friends over for a small gathering or a big party for the holidays. It's all a reminder of everyday being special and worth celebrating, right? I love taking the time to organize parties at home from time to time. But with work and my personal projects I need to be very practical when having people over, especially during a work day. Today I want to share a quick set up I put together to welcome our guests.
The hubs was cooking some japanese food, but I didn't want to go for the obvious black and red oriental table set up so I mixed and matched pieces to create a colorful dinner table.
These flowers that I had in the bedroom served as a simple center piece and inspired the use of multiple colors and pieces. I used dark purple placemats instead of a table cloth. And because the table is small, I only placed two of them facing each other - I just love the look of the exposed black wood table!
Then I placed purple bowls over pink napkins and yellow plates. Mixed it with silver utensils and petite dishes to rest the chopsticks. I really have no rules for setting up casual tables. So I try to have fun with everything I find around :)
This set up works because I used a purple & pink color palette with the flowers as a focal point. The added pop of yellow breaks the similarity and adds a fun touch.
Here you have it! A Thursday night casual dinner with friends at home. Add some wine and love and you'll have a fabulous time.
Have a great Sunday and thanks for passing by! xx.
