DC's Design Edge Event - Mariella's Top Six
Washington DC’s diverse design community is exploding - and what better way to get a sense of its designers than being a member of Thom Filicia’s Style Squad? Principal, and Founder of Splendor Styling - Mariella Cruzado, was honored to be a part of the Design Edge experience, alongside:
This is the first time the Design Edge event was brought to the DC area, where vendors hosted a market for local designers to showcase their latest and greatest. Mariella and the other squad members got to choose their favorite six pieces and share why they were drawn to them during a fun panel on the second day of the event. Mariella is known for her distinctive style, and she was described during the panel as “edgy, and cool” by Thom Filicia himself!
Trying to select a range of pieces from lighting to accent furniture, here’s Mariella’s Top Six:
(1) Aria Round Pendant by Fine Art Lighting
Don’t worry - we gasped when we saw it too. Mariella believes that lighting is the jewelry of the home, and this chandelier (made up of 5 hanging sconces) is actually customizable, allowing a designer to take their own artistic approach. A statement piece, this chandelier evokes a sense of glamour and elegance that demands to be appreciated.
(2) Baldwin Swivel Chair in “Highly Spa” by Gabby Home
Everyone needs a great swivel chair in their home, and this is one Mariella can vouch for. Usually included in her designs, this is the perfect example of a chair that is timeless and features a more traditional frame, however, can be upholstered in an array of fun fabrics to give a modern feel.
(3) Cassian Console by Madegoods
One of Mariella’s favorite luxury brands, this console is high quality and has an interchangeable top. Mariella believes that the acrylic base is subtle yet fun, and can be made to fit into an array of design styles - perfectly tailored to any client’s dream project.
(4) Serpent Brass Side Table by Currey and Co.
Striking, and elegant, this side table is versatile and can be displayed on its own or even in a pair. Whether it’s a living room, foyer, home office, or a bedroom, this piece is sure to spark a conversation. A forever piece!
(5) Cidra Chair by Interlude Home
Chic leather upholstery, a super sleek frame, and gold accents - Mariella believes this dining chair is that simple touch of modernity that will tastefully support any other statement pieces in a dining room.
(6) St. Lucia Table Lamp by Branch Home
Mariella loves using pieces that utilize a natural element, and this lamp features solid rose quartz bubbles placed around a vibrant gold base. No doubt a sculptural piece of art, this lamp caters towards the more adventurous client, and will stand out when paired with a more simple dresser or credenza. Moreover, the natural stone will bring positive cleaning energy to your home and your day to day. A beauty!
